NEPAPF's Youth Program
Designed to help parents teach their kids about habitat, wild game-birds and safety while handling a gun. NEPAPF will be holding several youth activity sessions throughout each year. Postings will be on the web and available at the monthly meetings.
Helping our youth understand the importance of creating habitat for our wild game-birds will be a vital and essential part of our organization. Our youth program will allow our children the possibilities to help create habitat for our wildlife, the release of pheasants, Youth hunts, and much more.
A message from Corey,
As the Northeast Pennsylvania Chapter of Pheasants Forever Youth Program Chairman, I am looking forward to working with our regional biologists to get youth more involved in the outdoors. Bringing along the next generation is one of the most important things we can do.
Current trends in small game hunting participation rates and age of participants represent an early warning that the future of our hunting tradition, outdoor heritage and wildlife conservation is threatened. The number of hunters reporting to hunt small game has declined by 40 percent. Surprisingly, at the same time, only 30-40 percent of teenagers interested in hunting are actually trying it. The two biggest barriers are recruitment and lack of mentoring.
Our chapter will address these issues and with your help and involvement we will have a new generation to continue our pheasant hunting heritage.
